Te Fiti Cosplay – Halloween Soiree 2017

I have crossed the horizon to find you
I know your name
They have stolen the heart from inside you
But this does not define you
This is not who you are
You know who you are

I must admit, I’ve developed a love for cosplay. Searching all the pieces together, trying out the make up, finding accessories and props, I’m loving it!

For the Halloween Soiree this year, I wanted to go big! Go overdressed or go home! So I decided to recreate a not-so-obvious character from Disney’s Moana: the island of Te Fiti. She only makes short appearances in the movie, yet she’s crucial to the whole story.

The outfit

My beautiful dress was made by the talented Vivi from MagicalThingsxo. She is so talented and kept me up-to-date with fabric and progress throughout the whole process.

My wig is the Misfit long wavy wig from Legs AvenueThe wig was really comfortable and easy to adjust to your head, no wigcap or pins needed. It wasn’t itchy and is fully washable.

The flowercrown I made myself using a long strand of Ivy that I twisted to make it really full and adjusted to the size of my head & the wig. Using hot glue, I glued on different kinds of flowers, also using some hanging flowers to go down into my hair.

The make up was definitely the most time-consuming part of creating this look. Turning myself green has taken a bit over 2,5 hours, because I wanted to get it just right. I started creating an easy green normal eye look using the Urban Decay Full Spectrum Palette, just because I don’t like the facepaint too close to my eyes. I used the Kryolan Aquacolor Interferenz in two shades of green 831G & 512G for my face. I used the 831G all over my face and used the darker green to contour with. It takes a little time, but I wanted everything to be blended. To put some details on my face, I used a Kryolan Aquacolor in a pale yellow shade, just to make some swirls around my eyes and mouth. I’d like to thank the amazing people of Avothea to help me pick out the right shades of facepaint. To put highlight, I used the Kat von D Alchemist Highlighter Palette, mostly the shade Green Emerald & a bit of blue sapphire. And to finish off, on my lips I was wearing Plan 9 , a Studded Kiss Lipstick by Kat von D.

As a finishing touch, I picked up the Moana figurines play set to recreate some scenes of the movie.

Did it work?

Personally I was really happy with how my cosplay turned out. I felt like I resembled the character, but with a personal twist. People in the Disneyland Park definitely recognized the character and complimented my outfit, which made me feel really confident. I had loads of fun cosplaying as Te Fiti!

Keep sparkling!
